Your guide at the Crossroads OF
creativity & Liminality
Hi, I’m Jennifer
I left my last (and only!) corporate job a lifetime ago - when I was 26 - to pursue the adventure of a lifetime - living a fully creative life.
During that time, I've raised four cats, two amazing daughters, and reinvented my life more times than I can count - or as Mae West is said to have quipped, "As often as I've needed to."
Here are just a few of the remarkable paths I’ve traveled down:
Creating a pen name (Tessa Layne), writing and marketing 24 (some might say scandalous) romance novels, and hitting the USA Today Bestsellers list six times.
Conducting a professional orchestra, appearing with a professional orchestra as a soprano soloist, singing as part of a symphony choir, playing piano as a member of a professional symphony corps, and spending 2 1/2 years as an executive director of a professional symphony where I wrote and received over Seven Figures of grant funding.
Performing with a flamenco dance company.
Teaching voice, piano, and holding sacred space for over 40 years
Mentoring debut writers who went onto win awards and publishing contracts with their work
Below, you can learn a little about how I grew into my vocation.
I hope to know and collaborate with many of you in the coming months and years!
And yes… I was born under a Leo Moon ;)
The Why
Over and over again, the Creative Path has led me to the unexpected, repeatedly returning me to the liminal space of the crossroads. There, I came to understand that the journey of the Heart, of Spirit, is both the seed and soil of our creativity. To nourish our Creativity is to nourish our Soul. For one cannot exist or develop without the other.
My joy lies both in sharing my own creative projects AND in the work of transformation - Spiritual Alchemy - of helping those that desire, more deeply connect to, know, and Love the most vibrant, playful, and magical part of themselves - their inherent Creativity.
It is through this process of opening and deepening, that we develop “our voice” - gradually building confidence - in ourselves, our truth, and in our creative expression.
It is in embracing this paradox - that I’m both mentor and novice, performer and director, writer and editor, creative doula and death worker, that my calling became clear.
The WhAT
This process encompasses many forms. For some, it’s 1:1 consultation and/or mentoring. For others, it might be small or large group facilitation, artist residencies, or masterclasses.
For still others, it can take the shape of play, call and response, traditional “lessons”, and can involve any creative medium.
If you have an idea for a project or collaboration, or would like guidance and have questions, let’s connect!
